Getting Started

Creating an Account

Download Social from the App Store
Tap "Sign Up" and enter your email and password
Verify your email address
Complete your profile with a name and photo
Allow location permissions to find nearby venues

Checking In to a Venue

Open the app and browse the map
Tap on a venue marker or select from the list
Tap "Check In" (you must be within 50 meters)
You'll automatically check out after 4 hours or when you move 50m away

Adding Friends

Tap the friends icon from the main menu
Search for friends by username or email
Send a friend request
Once accepted, you'll see their check-ins and activity

Common Questions

Why can't I check in to a venue?

You must be within 50 meters of the venue to check in. Make sure:

Location services are enabled for Social
You've allowed "While Using the App" or "Always" location access
You're physically at or very near the venue
Your GPS signal is strong (try going outside if indoors)

How do I get checked out?

You'll automatically check out when:

You move more than 50 meters away from the venue
4 hours have passed since your check-in
You manually tap "Check Out"

Can I use the app if I'm under 21?

Yes! While many venues are bars, the app also shows restaurants and other establishments. The app is rated 17+ due to alcohol-related content, but can be used for finding restaurants and cafes.

How do I report inappropriate content?

Tap the three dots (•••) on any post or message and select "Report". Our team reviews all reports promptly.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. This will permanently remove all your data.

Privacy & Safety

Your privacy is important to us. We collect minimal data necessary for the app to function:

Location: Only used to show nearby venues and enable check-ins
Profile Info: Name, email, and photo for your account
User Content: Posts, messages, and check-ins you create

Troubleshooting

App crashes or won't open

Make sure you have the latest version from the App Store
Try force-closing and reopening the app
Restart your device
Delete and reinstall the app (your account data is saved)

Location not updating

Check Settings → Privacy → Location Services
Ensure Social has "While Using" or "Always" access
Try toggling location off and back on
Make sure you're not in Airplane Mode

Can't send messages

Check your internet connection (WiFi or cellular data)
Make sure you're friends with the person you're messaging
Try force-closing and reopening the app
